Today in the MWU! [Muslim WakeUp!] by Ahmed Nassef & Jawad Ali, there is — A Note About Canceled Meetups:
A whole bunch of people who signed up for the Progressive Muslim Meetups just received notices from Meetup.com that their meetups were canceled. This is beyond MWU! control—it is Meetup.com’s policy that at least five people must confirm to attend before a meeting can officially be held.
All is certainly not lost however for these missed Meetups as this news item goes on to state:
we are planning to have a more customized version of the meetup process soon that will hopefully allow our members more leeway. Until then, we’ll have to work within these limits. Sorry for any inconvenience. But keep in mind, this is just a beginning—now we have a way of building a grassroots community of progressive Muslims. Almost overnight, we’ve identified progressive Muslims in over 80 cities.
